Exciting things are happening as we make a start on the delivery phase of the Discovery Project.

Over the coming winter months the Operations Team begin work on restoring the original vistas that were intended when Christopher Spurrier built Upton House in 1816. They will be removing the invasive tree species that prevent some of our oldest and original trees from flourishing, opening up views from the House to the shoreline and out across Holes Bay.

Once this work has been completed the Team will move on to managing and restoring the original Georgian Pleasure grounds.

Jennie and the team will be starting to utilise the wide and wonderful knowledge of our visitors and community as we research the history of the estate and its families, and the natural habitats and range of wildlife that can be found in the Country Park. This information will inform how we work with the public and conserve our landscape for the future.

We are looking for Interpretation & Research Volunteers to help gather memories about the estate or record and monitor the natural environment.

Or perhaps you’d prefer to assist with our exciting new learning programmes as an Engagement & Learning Volunteer? We will be creating workshops for lots of different areas of our community and need the help of energetic volunteers to help deliver them.

If you enjoy getting hands-on, our popular Garden & Practical Conservation groups are always keen to recruit if you’d like to help with the maintenance of the beautiful Country Park, learning new skills and meeting new people.
