BCP Council, your privacy and your personal information

Upton Country Park is owned and operated by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council (BCP Council). 

If you contact us via email or any contact form on this website, or use any council-led Event, Activity or Car Parking Season Ticket booking service on this uptoncountrypark.com website, your enquiry or booking will be dealt with by BCP Council.

BCP Council must look after your personal information by law. The main laws that apply to protecting your information is the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and the Human Rights Act (Article 8) (HRA).

Personal information can be anything that identifies and relates to an individual. For example, this could be your name, address and contact details, or simply a number. If it is possible to identify an individual directly from the information we hold, then that information is personal data.

Why we collect and how we may use your personal information

We will collect enough personal information in order to, where relevant:

  • respond to any enquiries by email or through our online contact form
  • provide you with services relevant to your use and enjoyment of the Country Park
  • manage any bookings or hire of Upton House and/or the Estate grounds and outbuildings
  • manage any bookings for council-led events or activities held at Upton Country Park
  • manage the application process, membership and administration of our various volunteer groups
  • check the quality of our events, activities and services, which may include conducting surveys
  • administer our Park News email service, keeping you up to date with news and events at Upton Country Park (more below)
  • we may also contact you in a situation when as a local authority we have a duty to inform residents, visitors and other park users.

We are not permitted to collect information we do not need or will not use. If we don’t need your personal information we won’t ask you for it; if we already have it we will keep the details anonymous. If we use your personal information for research or analysis, we will always keep your details anonymous or use a fake name, unless we request and receive your express permission to use them.

Your information will not be shared with any third party without your express permission; neither will it be disclosed to any other organisations, except where we may be required to do so by law.

Park News Newsletters

Our Park News Delivery Service is managed by MailChimp, an external email marketing service employed by Upton Country Park; you are given the opportunity to subscribe or unsubscribe to it within the newsletters you receive. If you are an existing subscriber you will also be able to update your existing details, for instance if you change your email address. You will only receive Park News items; we will not use the list for any other purpose.

Our Use of Cookies on this website

Cookies are small files placed on your computer’s hard drive by websites, they help websites to analyse web traffic or recognise your computer when you visit a particular site. We employ cookie technology to help visitors navigate this website, to provide certain functionality, an events calendar, for social sharing and to gather anonymous statistical data about your visit to our website, for instance:

Google Analytics cookies

Your IP address and website usage information is automatically collected from you when you visit uptoncountrypark.com. This information helps us evaluate how visitors use and navigate our website on an aggregate basis, including the number and frequency of visits and visitors to each web page, and the length of their visits. Tockify Events Calendar cookies

We employ the Tockify software to provide an Events Calendar; Tockify adds ‘session’ cookies to your computer when you visit the Upcoming Events page; we cannot provide the Events Calendar without it.

Social Sharing cookies

We also use cookies to allow you to share content directly on the social networking/sharing sites like Facebook or Twitter. Examples would be if you wanted to “like” or “tweet” about a project or event promoted on our website.
